Percentage

The gym was all stowed and Electra was on top of the carrier. As I came over, she pointed out that there was $45 in the stack.

“Heck of a tip,” I said.

“Well, it’s after midnight,” she said. “So you can tell your parents she got home… Time: now.”

“Ah.” I collected my things, one of which was starting to giggle.

“What?” I asked.

“May I?” she laughed.

“I was trying to be polite.” I turned off lights and let myself out, making sure the door locked behind me.

“The woman was half a second from raping you,” Electra giggled, “and you’re worried about being polite.”

“You’re just relieved we were wrong about her being a sylph molester.”

“No, she’s more of a child molester.”

“Yes, she is,” I said dreamily. “But I’m 18…”

“Yeah,” Electra said, “But IQ doesn’t count.”

“Um… Ha ha,” I said. She laughed.

Then she turned serious. “Conrad, I don’t want 20 percent.”

“Well, that’s generous of you,” I said happily.

“You don’t understand! I don’t want a percentage!”

“I understand fully,” I said. “You want it all. You believe you deserve it all. For one, I wouldn’t even have gotten a glimpse of her bra if you hadn’t been there.

“Second, you were instrumental in the creation of her Princess Sylph fantasy.

“And for another, I got the sex, so you deserve the money as compensation.”

“Um… Yeah,” she said quietly.

“And that’s generous of you, striking through any discussion about giving or taking credit, or deciding who gets how much credit, or me claiming I did all the work, or you claiming you were the key element to the evening.

“Plus, this way, I don’t have to worry that I didn’t offer you enough when I made you sign the nondisclosure agreement for the evening.”

“Oh, yeah, for $45, I can keep quiet about something that would make your parents forbid us babysitting for the nice, generous lady ever again.”

“So, deal,” I said. “But, um, what IS it you’re saving the money for?”

“Some day, Conrad, you’ll be in a store that sells sylph clothes. GOOD sylph clothes. Stylish sylph clothes. And there I’ll be, solvent.”

“Ah,” I said. I walked on a few steps. “Do you like…. turquoise?”

“Only if you pitch in half,” she said.

“So, deal,” I told her.
